IP Anycast
By deploying IP Anycast, or BGP Anycast, InfoRelay provides Internet users with multiple network paths into different physical locations that host your servers. Traffic destined for your servers is routed through the shortest path and to the network location that is the closest to the end-user. This greatly reduces latency and improves site and application performance.
This feature is often used in conjunction with DNS servers, which are configured to route more complex requests, such as HTTP, streaming audio, or SIP (voice over IP) requests getting your customers what they want quickly and without interruption.
InfoRelay is proud to have been a pioneer amongst managed hosting providers by utilizing IPv6 within our network. IPv6, or Internet Protocol version 6, was designed as the successor to IPv4. IPv4 is being phased out as the number of available IP addresses has dwindled to zero. IPv6, on the other hand, allows for 340 undecillion or 3.4 x 10^38 addresses (in other words, A LOT of addresses).
The US Government is requiring a major changeover to IPv6. Most businesses have followed suit in order to not only retain compatibility with the governments’ needs, but to be able to provide for future needs as well.
IPv6 is currently available on all of InfoRelay’s major networks, including Washington DC and Northern Virginia, Los Angeles, San Jose and San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York metropolitan area.

Managed Leased SAN and NAS Deployments
It’s a tough call–manage a large complex Strorage Area Network (SAN), or pay for the initial investment to purchase a SAN? InfoRelay’s unified storage system provides multiple external block and file interfaces through an IceWEB platform using the Zettabyte File System (ZFS). Our manage and leased SAN along with our support options allow us to provide the following:

Managed Firewall and VPN Deployments
InfoRelay offers a managed Cisco ASA firewall that boasts a variety of security and VPN features.
We also offer services that allow us to monitor the status of the devices and filters to ensure that all firmware, rules, and versions are up to date. This guarantees that any security vulnerabilities are patched as soon as they are found.
Features include:
- A private Cisco PIX or ASA device (depending on customer preference)
- Full management of your firewall
- Adjustments to firewall policies and rules based upon your requests
- Monthly maintenance including firmware updates
- Two hour repair or replacement of a failed firewall device
- Handling of traffic up to 100Mbps
DDoS Mitigation and Attack Diversion
A Distributed Denial of Service Attack occurs when multiple systems flood one specific server or network with requests in an attempt to shut it down. This type of attack is highly malicious, and has the potential to disrupt the flow of business and e-commerce, costing companies billions of dollars annually.
InfoRelay can easily combat DDoS attacks that range from 1Gbps up to 100Gbps with the use of proprietary Cisco routing policies in conjunction with a specialized global defense network across all of our major core routers. InfoRelay utilizes F5 Big-IP Load Balancers to manage networking traffic. Big-IP Load Balancers make use of a Traffic Management Operating System, developed by F5 engineers. Additionally, they operate a Linux operating system for basic management functions, ensuring that most of the load balancer’s resources go towards directing traffic. F5 has optimized hardware and software streamlining the entire process of Network Traffic Management, SSL forwarding, and Application Delivery Networking.
Server Load Balancing allows us to distribute traffic to web servers or other servers (FTP, DNS, etc.) evenly, allowing you to utilize multiple servers or host a single, high-traffic site. The standard monthly fee includes up to 10Mbps of standard load balanced traffic.
